Text Box: Stan keeps his finger on the pulse of the African and Caribbean communities in and around Philadelphia. Whether helping to smooth their process of integration into the neighborhood environment, providing valuable information about health and social services, or listening to and trying to alleviate some of the problems encountered by Text Box: recent immigrants or residents of long standing, Stan plots a steady course of confidence building. He and all members of the Commission also encourage entrepreneurship and community awareness ventures directed toward self sufficiency and growth. Through his leadership, the Mayor’s Commission for African and Caribbean Immigrant Affairs lent its recognition and support to many neighborhood, regional, and international events which hold special relevance for African Americans and the African Diaspora. This edition of our newsletter highlights several of such events and forecasts many yet to take place. He devotes a very generous amount of his time to planning and organizing meetings where the Commission sets forth its agenda for successful engagement in community service and business ventures and partnerships at local and global levels. The Commission is active in public affairs. Our goal is unity of purpose through strength in diversity. We have an ambitious agenda for this year. We intend to expand our contacts and solidify our base.
